Styles of Music One of the most powerful motivators is playing what you love so i believe the students should choose their own style of music for their personal repertoire. I also believe in equipping all students with the knowledge of many styles and techniques so they will have a foundation of a little of everything! From Bach, Beethoven and Brahms "black tie" Classical music to "blue jeans and t-shirt" Contemporary music to everything in between, the students will be founded with proper technique to create a beautiful tone and ease of movement and i will assist the students in preparing a repertoire for their personal enjoyment. Piano or Keyboard Students are required to have a full size weighted keyboard or an acoustic piano (acoustic is the best because nothing can take the place of feeling and playing the real thing). They may start with a small keyboard if parent is wanting to see if the child will continue to be interested but will be required to upgrade to full size with weighted keys and damper pedal between 2-6 months of lessons. I will be very glad to help you make the best decision on what is best for the student Resources Students are required to purchase learning material. I will be happy to assist in selecting what books are best for the individual student. Please do NOT purchase any books before the 1st lesson and bring any piano books you already have so i will be able to better evaluate what you may need. Practice 30 minutes minimum a day/4 days a week is the required practice amount. There is a right and a wrong way to practice so i will always equip you with the correct method of practicing so you can maximize your time and efforts. Perfect practice makes perfect! Lesson times The student and i will agree on a specific lesson time and date. This time and date will be reserved for that student weekly until the student chooses to withdrawal or change times. Recitals Recitals are optional but highly recommended. It is a great experience for the student to prepare a piece and perform it. I have found it great motivation and a wonderful confidence booster as well as fun and exciting. We will have 2 recitals a year, a spring recital and a Christmas recital. Cancelations In todays world, we understand that life does not stop and sometimes cancelations are unavoidable. Here are the guidelines to our cancelation policy: *24 hr notice is required for a make-up lesson (no exceptions) *There is no credit for lessons missed *If I have to cancel I will ALWAYS give a make up lesson. *In the event that you decide to withdrawal from lessons, a month notice is required.
